Current Lab Members

Our lab, comprising undergraduate students, primarily biology and neuroscience majors from Barnard College, provides an opportunity for closely mentored scientific investigation. Lab students gain practical experience with state-of-the-art skills and techniques while performing original research in projects ranging in length from a single semester, to a summer internship, to a year-long thesis.

Parker Parrella
“Hi! My name is Parker Parrella and I am a Biology major and Art History minor in the class of 2023 at Barnard. I joined the Snow Lab in the summer of 2021 and I am thrilled to contribute to research that aims to protect honey bee colonies!”

Victoria Cordero
“Hello! My name is Victoria Cordero and I am a Biology major in the class of 2025 at Barnard College. I joined the Snow Lab in the Summer of 2022, and I am grateful to continue participating in the lab’s incredible research to help protect our precious honeybees!”

Noelle Texeira
“Hello! My name is Noelle Texeira and I am a Biology major and Chemistry minor in the Barnard College class of 2025. I joined the Snow Lab in the summer of 2022 and am excited to be studying the cellular stress response of honey bees and gaining valuable research experience.”

Jesse Graves
“Hi! I’m Jesse and I am a staff Laboratory Specialist in the Biology department at Barnard. I joined the Snow Lab in Spring 2023. I am a proud graduate of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where I became interested in symbiosis biology ranging from mutualism to parasitism. I am excited to be studying the relationship between the obligate microsporidian parasites Varimorpha (Nosema) and honey bees. I’m particularly interested in studying the cellular biology of this interaction using yeast systems.”

Angelene Soto
“Hey! I’m Angelene Soto, class of 2024 majoring in Biology at Barnard. I’m excited to start my senior thesis on the cellular stress response of honeybees and learn more about their interactions with Nosema.”

Anya Voit
Hi! My name is Anya Voit, class of Barnard 2026. I am a Biochem major with a minor in Math. I joined the Snow lab in the fall of 2023. I am very grateful and excited for this opportunity to participate in the lab’s exciting research on honeybees!

Jadae Watson
“Hi! My name is Jadae Watson and I am a Biology major in the class of 2025 at Barnard College. This past summer, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Professor Snow on a fun project for the Biology department and I am thrilled to be able to join his lab for the fall to contribute to research on the molecular mechanisms of honey bee disease.”
